Saldanha and Rao condemn Bangalore’s plan to bury pandemic dead in landfill

In a press release, Leo Saldanha and Bhargavi Rao, both members of the India team and founders of Environment Support Group (ESG), called on officials to reconsider its plan to use a landfill to cremate and bury the bodies of Covid-19 victims. Saldanha and Rao challenged the government’s claim that two disaster management acts allow it to use the landfill as a crematorium, and demanded a more suitable and dignified solution.  

Scott-Insua and others discuss vaccination campaigns in Latin America

Peru team leader Rogelio Scott-Insua gave an interview to Distintas Latitudes, a pan-Latin American e-magazine focused on social issues, about the gender-gap in healthcare and vaccine access in Peru. The article “Abriendo las puertas de la perspectiva de género en planes de vacunación latinoamericanos,” (Opening the Door to Gender-Based Perspectives in Latin American) also cited experts from Argentina, Puerto Rico, and Ecuador.

Jornal da Unicamp publishes article highlighting Brazil’s participation in CompCoRe

An article titled “Por que respostas tão diferentes à pandemia?” (Why are there such different responses to the pandemic?) noted Brazil as an important case in the study and reviewed initial CompCoRe findings. Comments from Brazil team members Marko Monteiro and Alberto Urbinatti describe how the project is helping to shed light on Brazil’s pandemic response.

DevEx publishes article about CompCoRe research

DevEx, which serves a million professionals and others interested in global development, published an article titled “Consensus or chaos? Pandemic response hinges on trust, experts say.” The article reviewed the findings of CompCoRe’s Interim Report, citing the Control, Consensus, Chaos framework and highlighting the importance of trust in institutions.
